Unscripted Rhythms with Sofia Quezaire:

Release the idea of dancing to perform, and embrace the idea of using dancing to find trust between our mind and body. In this improvisational class, we will dive deep into intuition, imagination, and inspiration to decipher how ego keeps us from moving freely, but also moving safely. Let’s dance like we’ve been unscathed by the world.

Root of Sensuality with Joy Jones:

Joy writes, “There’s a dark cloud over me, and it moves away every time I dance.”

She values liberation and laughter, connection and depth in her movement practice. Joy describes her open-level beginner-friendly classes as a way to transmute stagnant energy and help reconnect with our dancing bodies. Class starts with a grounding meditation, then progresses through a warm-up that activates sensual flow. Joy leads you through her rhythmic, sultry choreography with rooted grace.

Class Descriptions:

In The Swell with Sean Quinn:

Become immersed in Sean’s generous environment and dive into the world of contemporary dance. Beginning with an improvisational warm-up, we open ourselves up to our abstract side and explore the design of strong, detailed, spiraling choreography. Fine-tune your eyes so you can see deeper into every moment. Investigate the mechanics and strength you already possess.

Vogue Flow with Ivy Mugler:

Vogue, in its true essence, is more than just a dance; it's a powerful form of identity expression, storytelling, and community building. We will explore traditional Vogue technique with an emphasis on flow, to find the confidence that lies within. In Vogue Flow, our goal is to disconnect from the outside forces holding us back and empower our most radiant selves.

Personifiaction with Megan Anna:

In this class, we embrace language by finding meaning in stories. MeganAnna's approach to music is paramount for connection and celebration. Through her choreography, you will exercise full-out expression & character. Let yourself be immersed in words, but speak with your body.

The Body Remembers with Mar Garcia:

Punking through memory & motion is more than a dance class—it's an encounter. Rooted in the expressive tradition of punking, a powerful queer street dance, this class invites you to explore movement as memory, resistance, and release.  You’ll explore the body as an archive, from the emotional storytelling of punking, where movement becomes a reflective space that welcomes all identities and experiences.

Like Water with Minh Nguyen:

Have you ever found yourself saying, “Wow, that person moves like water.” Well, let me introduce you to Minh Nguyen. Find the freedom within restriction and system in her waving fundamentals class. Freshen up on your movement vocab, learn to be mindful with music, and understand the why behind what we practice and participate in as dancers. Come and explore merging identity into a cultural form of dance while honoring its roots.

From The Inside Out with eMBody:

What is site-specific dance? This class shows us how to take inspiration from our surroundings to create movement. Approach the world through the lens of exploration and communion. Expand your concept of where the perfect place to dance is - it might be right outside your door. Weather permitting we will dance outside, explore nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park and the environment around you.
